February 24, 2009. The African Diplomatic Corps (ADC) in Tokyo, Japan, organized today, at the City Club, a farewell lunch in the honor of their outgoing Dean, the Ambassador of Tanzania to Japan, H.E. Mr. Elly Elikunda MTANGO (top photo, left; and mid photo). He was appointed Ambassador to Japan in April 2000, and was also representing his country in Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

During his tenure, Ambassador Mtango, as a skilled Diplomat, has made an outstanding contribution to the bilateral cooperation between Japan and Tanzania and to the collective diplomacy of the ADC in Tokyo aimed at strengthening further the partnership between Africa and Japan, especially through the TICAD process.
