The G8 Summit will take place in L’Aquila, Italy, from July 8 to July 10, 2009. On the way to that Summit, a number of preparatory meetings have been scheduled. As far as Africa is concerned, there is an indication that the Italian G8 Presidency is keeping the spotlight trained very firmly on Africa. The aim is to pursue in-depth dialogue with the countries on the continent through strengthened cooperation on an equal footing with the pan-African institutions. In pursuit of this goal, a meeting of G8 member countries’ Africa Personal Representatives has been held on Tuesday, 9th of May, ahead of the G8 Summit in L’Aquila in July where they will be meeting with their African counterparts.
